Jack Souza, Prospect Theater Project’s Founding Artistic Director, has directed, designed or appeared in nearly all of PTP’s 100+ productions over the past 16 years. Souza’s extensive regional theater credits include Sierra Repertory Theater, Stage 3, Murphy’s Creek Theater and Modesto Performing Arts. Souza appeared as Titus in Titus Andronicus at the Arc Light Theater in New York City and as a guest artist in productions of Three Sisters and Mourning at Columbia University. Among his favorite roles at PTP are Henry II in The Lion in Winter, Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, Henry Higgins in Pygmalion, Frank Hardy in Faith Healer, and Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman. In addition to New York, Souza has appeared as an actor in Seattle, Dublin and in the Bay Area. Having training with the American Conservatory Theater and Berkeley Repertory Theater, he also holds a Master’s degree in Modern Drama with Honors from University College Dublin, Ireland. As Artistic Director of Prospect Theater Project since its formation in 2000 until 2008 and again from 2009 to the present, Souza has been responsible for all artistic content of the company including staffing and the creative content of all design and technical positions, directors, managers and actors. He oversees all of the company’s productions and programming as well all outside bookings. Apart from his duties as Artistic Director of PTP, Souza is a Guest Lecturer at CSU Stanislaus, Merced College, Modesto Junior College and is the 2011 recipient of The Stanislaus Arts Council’s award for Excellence in Theatre.
